Asobi Toys – The Top 12

9 Nov

Using entries from the Regards Rainbow ‘Slow Toys’ competition amongst others, Thierry Bourret of Asobi has released the final 12 toys for ‘Slow Toys 2011’

Thierry launched the campaign in response to the Dream Toys announcement a couple of weeks ago, where the top toys included a pooing dog.

To qualify as a Slow Toy – the toys had to fulfil the follwoing criteria:

• Not made of plastic

• Ethically sourced

• Fun to play with

• No need for batteries

 • Sold in independent toy shops

• Durable

• Without thousands of different functions (rely on the child’s imagaination for this!)

After an “overwhelming response” from parents who voted for their favourite toys, in no particular order, Asobi’s final 12 toys are:

1.      Lorry shape sorter – Tidlo
2.      Memory – Gogo toys
3.      Robots – Mudpuppy magnets
4.      Ice cream shop – Haba
5.      World History – Brainbox
6.      Sneezy the activity dragon – Tolo
7.      Multi Solution Shape Puzzles – Pkolino
8.      Carpenters tool box – Big Jigs
9.      Painta Pets – Krasnya Dolls

Hi Elaine – very true! Although we feel the need to point out at Asobi used data from a huge amount of sources for their list not just RR !! Thanks for commenting on Blog Match and joining in – much appreciated x

I’m a HABA ambassador, so I’m really chuffed to see one of theirs on the list, and there were a couple I expected to see that didn’t make it, that’s the way of these things I guess. I did my entry by email, and I saw a few entered lists via their own blog posts. Really interesting to see which toys other people recommended.
